Filters help customers refine their search when shopping online. By using specific product attributes—like color or type—filters make finding the right items much easier.
Ever walked past something in a store, decided not to buy it, then later searched for it online—only to struggle to find it? Maybe you remember the brand but not the details. Search filters simplify that process for you and your customers.
A well-designed filter system enhances user experience, reduces search frustration, and increases customer satisfaction and loyalty. That’s a win-win!
In this article, we’ll guide you through setting up filters on your website in two steps:
✅ Name Your Filters Within WebManager
✅ Prepare Your Product Data
Choosing the Right Filters
If you’re unsure what filters to include, think about how you shop for a TV 📺. You might filter by:
- Store Pickup
- Current Deals
- TV Screen Size
- Brand
These filter names are what customers and reps will see while shopping.
Things to Keep in Mind:
✅ Don’t overthink it—keep filters simple and relevant.
✅ Basic search already covers ItemID, ItemName, and keywords from product descriptions.
How Filters Work on Our Platforms
See the below breakdown of how the filters work on our various platforms.
-
RepZio: Reps can access product filters by tapping the binoculars icon
, selecting Search, then choosing Advanced Search.
-
B2B Direct: Filters function like standard e-commerce sites and appear on product listing pages.
-
ShopZio: Does not support filters.
Name Your Filters Within WebManager
A well-named filter improves clarity, speeds up decision-making, and boosts conversions.
Step 1
Decide how many UDF fields (user-defined fields) you'll use and create high-level category names.
Examples
- Designer
- Color
- Fabric
- In-Stock Item
Step 2
Go to WebManager > Settings > Global Settings > Text Inputs. Filters must be named in order (UDF16-20), separated by commas (no spaces).
Prepare Your Product Data
Clean data is essential. We suggest to start by exporting your product file from WebManager. Filters can be created using UDF16-20 only.
Step 1
Export your product file from within WebManager > Manage Data > Export Data > Export Products
Step 2
Fill in the UDF fields in the Product Template with the filter options that will allow customers to narrow their search. If a product has multiple values for a field, separate them with commas.
Example: Purple,Aubergine,Eggplant,Lavender
Step 3
Upload your data file into WebManager > Manage Data > Upload Data Sheets > Products
Additional Step for B2B Direct
