Pointing your domain name to Juniper Web is fairly straight forward but there are a few steps we need to take. We suggest moving your DNS to CloudFlare. CloudFlare is an amazing free service that has rock solid DNS services as well as other great free services we will utilize. Most importantly, they offer a free SSL Certificate, which is required by JuniperWeb. Not only does this free SSL Certificate save you time and money, it helps prevent blocking issues, as websites without an SSL Certificate are marked as 'unsafe' by Google. You wouldn't want your customers to worry about your website's safety!
1. Setup a CloudFlare Account
Sign up here for a CloudFlare account. Once you have your CloudFlare account set up, you can complete the following steps. You can also contact us if you need help with the process.
2. Move Your DNS & Update the Name Servers
Login to your CloudFlare account and simply follow the Add Site instructions. It's a very simple process that should only take a few minutes that requires you to change name servers with your domain registrar... i.e. GoDaddy, Network Solutions, NameCheap etc.
Once CloudFlare has copied your DNS records over from your existing domain registrar (ex: godaddy.com) you can then simply update your name servers at your domain registrar.
⚠️ It's a good idea to take a screenshot of your DNS records before moving forward ⚠️
In order for our servers to properly respond to a request to your website, we need to verify ourselves initially. This is a one-time setup that is done via A records within Cloudflare.
3. Setup Your A Records
Now that we are allowed to serve up your website, we need to set up the A Records that point your website traffic to us.
We will supply you with an IP address, it will look something like this : 216.58.219.110 (this is just a sample IP Address).
With that information, once you have logged into Cloudflare, click the DNS icon within the navigation.
Pointing to A Root Domain & WWW?
Then click "+ Add Record" button to create the two (2) A records as follows. This will make your JuniperWeb presence reachable at YourDomainName.com & www.YourDomainName.com.
Pointing to A Subdomain?
This example will make your JuniperWeb presence reachable at shop.YourDomainName.com
Then click "+ Add Record" button to create a A record as follows.
4. Setting SSL to Full
Using the icon navigation within Cloudflare, choose the SSL/TLS icon, then ensure encryption mode is set to Full.
5. Setting HTTPS To Always
Using the icon navigation within Cloudflare, choose the SSL/TLS icon, then click "Edge Certificates". Ensure the "Always Use HTTPS" is enabled.
6. Complete Setup & Allow Propagation
Once you have setup your A records and SSL to Full, please notify support@junipercommerce.com, so we can verify that everything is setup. Your website will then begin "propagation".
Propagation is the process of responding to our server versus your website's old server. This can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 24 hours, and some people will definitely see your new site before others.
This is normal, as different machines get updated at different times.
7. That's It!
Your new website should be up and running. Please feel free to reach out to our Support team if you have any questions, or need help going through this process.
