Images are an important component of selling products. With images as the key ingredient to winning over customers, let this guide help you quickly and more efficiently get all the product images uploaded with little to no hiccups!
This article is intended to help understand the different ways in which an image can be named. In WebManager, there are a few different ways that product images can be named. Each option is a great method to choose from—some might be easier than others, but each method will get the job done!
Note: All products need to be uploaded within WebManager before uploading product images.
General Image Requirements
- All images must be in JPG format. Please save your file as .jpg in lowercase and do NOT save it as a .jpeg.
- We automatically resize images to have the maximum size of 2048 × 2048 pixels.
- If you have product options for a product, and you do not have an image for it, we will notice and make a copy of the main product image for that Item.
- Do not forget to Push Data Live after uploading new images or making changes.
3 Methods to Name Images
- Uploading an Image using the PhotoName Option
- Uploading an image after naming it after the ITEMID
- Uploading an Image using the Image URL
Method 1: Uploading an Image using the PhotoName Option
Within the Product Template Excel File, there is a column labeled “PhotoName”. This is the column to add your product image names to and is the main image for your product. For example, if I have a Green T-shirt and I have saved the product image as “Green T-shirt”, I would then enter “Green T-shirt” on that row in my product sheet. Keep in mind that if this field is blank, the system will by default name the image after the ITEMID.
The “PhotoName” Field can also be used to rename images. For example, if I have “Green T-shirt” in that field, but now I want that product to be a blue T-shirt, I would update my product data to match this new change, then in the “PhotoName” field I would change the photo name to “Blue T-shirt”.
The “AdditionalPhotos” column can also be used if there are multiple images. Ensure those photo names are listed and separated with a comma with no spaces.
Lastly, remember to upload this data sheet into WebManager then once a success message is received, please Push Data Live.
Method 2: Uploading an image after naming it after the ITEMID
First, find where the product images are stored and ensure all images are named in the format of “ITEMID”, then ensure they have saved as a .JPG file type.
Uploading to WebManager
First, log into the WebManager Admin account. Next, go to the menu item on the left that is named “Manage Images”. There will then be a drop-down, select the “Upload Images” option.
Once the screen above is visible, you will be able to drag & drop or click anywhere in the upload box to begin uploading images. Similar to uploading images within DataSynq, you will need to follow the “Image Guidelines” and “Naming Convention Guidelines” for all product images.
If any images are missing or not attached to one of your products, you can go to the “Missing Images” option under “Manage Images” to check which product ITEMID's do not have images. Do not forget to push data live to see image updates!
Method 3: Uploading an Image using the Image URL
First, download the Product Image Template (attachment below). Next, enter the ITEMID in the ITEMID column. In the PhotoName Column, enter the full URL of the image. If there are any additional images to add with that ITEMID, they can be added in the next column that is called “AdditionalImages”. Enter the full URL of any additional images, then separate the entries by using a comma with no spaces before or after it. Finally, upload this data sheet into WebManager, select the product image type, and push data live once a success message is received.
Note: The URL must go to a JPG image. Be sure to open a few of your URLs to ensure they are accessible and pull up the JPG image & don't redirect you to another portal. For example, some Dropbox URLs do this.
